The second in a trilogy and sequel to the award-winning Total War: Warhammer, Total War: Warhammer II brings players a breathtaking new narrative campaign, set across the vast continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth, and the Southlands. The race is on, and the very fate of the world will lie in the hands of the victor. Yet others seek to harness its terrible energies for their own bitter purpose.
Powerful forces move to heal the maelstrom and avert catastrophe. Now the Great Vortex falters, and the world again stands at the brink of ruin. Its purpose was to draw the Winds of Magic from the world as a sinkhole drains an ocean, and blast the Daemonic hordes back to the Realm of Chaos. Game director Ian Roxburgh has said the campaign map will be "twice the size" of the Eye of the Vortex campaign map that appeared in Total War: Warhammer II.Millennia ago, besieged by a Chaos invasion, a conclave of High Elf mages forged a vast, arcane vortex. The main campaign's details remain unknown, but the developers have stated that it will take place within the Realm of Chaos, said to be the source of all magic in the Warhammer Fantasy setting. Another race, the Ogre Kingdoms, will be made available to "early adopters" (those who pre-purchased the game before release, or purchased within the first week after release). The races announced with the game are the human civilizations of Kislev (based on Medieval Russia) and Grand Cathay (based on Imperial China), and factions based on the four Chaos Gods (Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh). Those who own races from the first two games will have the same races unlocked for multiplayer in the third game a combined world map, similar to the "Mortal Empires" campaign in Total War: Warhammer II for owners of the first two games, will also be developed. The game will also have a custom battles mode where players can create customised real-time battles, as well as online multiplayer battles.
When armies meet, they battle in real-time. Players engage in diplomacy with, and fight against, AI-controlled factions. In the campaign, players move armies around the map and manage settlements in a turn-based manner. Like its predecessors, Total War: Warhammer III features turn-based strategy and real-time tactics gameplay similar to other games in the Total War series. The game was announced on Februit is scheduled for release on February 17, 2022. It is part of the Total War series, and the third to be set in Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy fictional universe (following 2016's Total War: Warhammer and 2017's Total War: Warhammer II). Total War: Warhammer III is an upcoming turn-based strategy and real-time tactics video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega.
